Bob Wardwell has over 40 years of experience in natural resources and pest management. He attended the University of Maryland, majoring in Ornamental Horticulture and Agronomy. He worked for the US Park Service and the Department of Defense until his retirement in 2007.
While employed by the Park Service, he worked on the arboriculture crew that was responsible for maintaining the trees in all the parks in the Washington DC area, including the National Mall.
While at the Pentagon, his responsibilities included Environmental, Natural Resources and Integrated Pest Management Policy Development. His field work at The Army Research Laboratory provided him with invaluable experience in the areas of endangered species, forestry and biodiversity management.
He is a North Carolina Department of Agriculture Certified Pesticide Applicator. His specialty is Integrated Pest Management of insects and diseases affecting trees and shrubs in the North Carolina Mountains with particular expertise in Hemlock Woolly Adelgid diagnosis and treatment.
